Nikki McCarthy, Founder and Executive Director of Sam's Fans, sits down with Jason in the new episode of Marketing614. Sam's Fans is a local Columbus non-profit that supports music and art therapy for seriously ill children and their families. They have a presence at children's hospitals all over Ohio, including Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Akron, and Dayton!
In this episode, Nikki goes into the heartfelt story behind why she founded Sam's Fans, their mission, and why music therapy is still not widely known. She and Jason also discuss the events in Columbus that Sam's Fans puts on throughout the year, from their annual 5k to the A THREAD of Hope fundraiser, as well as the kind of strategies it takes to market a non-profit, such as video content and social media. Video content has played a major role in spreading awareness towards music therapy - it's something that has to be seen to feel its impact. Sharing patient stories is powerful, but *seeing* them and how their lives have been changed by music therapy instills in the viewer not only what music therapy is, but what it means to so many.
